Welcome to The Knockananna Grill!
(Cnoc an Eanaigh)

Operating in the Parksville/Qualicum Beach area of Vancouver Island, The Knockananna Grill food truck is available for public events and private functions!

“Knockananna” means “the hill of the marsh”, and is the area in Ireland’s County Wicklow near where Deb’s grandfather (Herb Wilson) was born. (He was born in Moyne, one of the Wilsons of Moyne).

Herb celebrated his 99th birthday the same week we “opened the doors” of the first phase of the Grill in 2009, so the name seemed fitting. He was one of the best cooks we know (and for a brief time in the 1950’s he and Deb’s grandmother operated a diner in East Vancouver, “The Rodo Lunch” on Nanaimo St & Charles St).

His cooking style was the reason we choose to prepare as much as possible using real, fresh, unprocessed, and local foods!

Gord brings many years of restaurant experience to The Knockananna Grill (back as far as his teenage years helping his Mum run the cafeteria in City Hall in Victoria BC). His mum also baked dozens of British meat pies each morning to sell to Cross’ Meat Market in Victoria in the 1970s.

Deb has spent many years in customer service and selling her baking at local farmer’s markets.

We both love to cook, and we are passionate about making the kind of meals we used to get at home. Hand-made burgers, fresh-cut fries, home made soups, sauces and dressings are our specialty!
